Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Lichtsome Hoose Ltd, a company incorporated in Scotland with its registered office at [address to be inserted], collects and uses personal data when you adopt a tree, sponsor a wildflower square, become a Founding Adopter, or otherwise interact with the Baltersan Orchards campaign at baltersan.garden.

For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Lichtsome Hoose Ltd is the data controller of the information described below. Lichtsome Hoose Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. You can contact us about anything in this notice at support@baltersan.scot.

What we collect, and why

We collect the minimum personal data required to record your dedication, issue your Charter, and fulfil our obligations under the Adoption Agreement. Specifically:

Payment data (card details, billing address) is processed entirely by PayPal and is never seen or stored by Lichtsome Hoose Ltd. PayPal's privacy notice is available at paypal.com/uk/legalhub/privacy-full.

The legal basis we rely on

How long we keep it

We retain your dedication record (name, dedication text, variety) for the full duration of the Guaranteed Period defined in clause 5 of the Adoption Agreement (twenty years from the date of your dedication), and for any additional period necessary to maintain the Roll thereafter. Email addresses used for newsletters are retained for as long as you remain subscribed plus a further six months. VAT and accounting records are retained for six years after the relevant tax year, as required by HMRC.

We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use behavioural advertising cookies on the site. We do not run third-party analytics on the site at present; if we add privacy-respecting analytics in the future (such as Plausible) we will update this notice and place a clear disclosure.

International transfers

PayPal may process payment data in jurisdictions outside the UK in accordance with its own privacy notice. All other data is held within the UK or the EU.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the following rights, exercisable at any time and free of charge:

To exercise any of these rights, write to support@baltersan.scot with the subject line "Privacy request". We will reply within 30 days (usually much sooner). You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

The Baltersan Orchards site does not set cookies on visitors' devices. The page uses no third-party analytics, no advertising trackers, no embedded social-media widgets and no behavioural cookies. (When you click through to PayPal to make a payment, PayPal's site sets its own cookies under its own privacy notice — that is no longer this site.)

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice if we change how we handle your data. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will also be notified by email to active adopters.
